Company

For more than two centuries, Fischbacher 1819 has been at the heart of the textile industry. We are a family-owned company with headquarters in St. Gallen Switzerland, a centre for the textile industry since the 13th century. Our products are created with great attention to detail, a deep-rooted passion for quality materials and a constant drive for creative innovation. Fischbacher 1819 interior fabrics, carpets, bedding and home accessories collections are made for luxurious interiors with personality.

Nowadays, it is unusual for a company to insist on the highest production standards for all of its products, but at Fischbacher 1819, this is a matter of course. In our unrelenting quest for quality, we have collaborated successfully with our partners and suppliers, in some cases for over 100 years.

While we are proud of our Swiss roots, we are a global company, with offices in Germany, Japan, France, the Netherlands and Italy. Our products are inspired by our close involvement with these countries and our interest in their cultural trends.  Innovation and continuous development, combined with our tradition and know-how passed down through the centuries, are the key to our success.

Family Tradition

Fischbacher 1819 has been in the hands of the same family since 1819.  Our deep-seated passion for and knowledge of textiles is part of our heritage that has been passed down for six generations. Each generation has brought its own new ideas to the company and has thus contributed to our ability to maintain the high standards of quality and innovation throughout our history.

Since 2008, the company has been run by Michael Fischbacher and his wife Camilla. The two met while studying at Oxford University. Under their direction, a fresh, international spirit prevails at the headquarters in St. Gallen.

Before they took over the management of Fischbacher 1819, Camilla and Michael lived in England, Asia and the United States. CEO Michael Fischbacher speaks six languages, including Japanese and Mandarin.  He represents the company’s roots in family tradition and principles, as well as its global focus.  Creative Director Camilla Fischbacher runs the in-house design studio and continues to drive the creative and innovative development of our products.

As with every generation, Fischbacher 1819 today is a reflection of the personalities of its owners: family-oriented, modern and cosmopolitan, they stand for a kind of luxury that is not an end in itself, but rather about the importance of good quality and unique, individual design.
