Christian Fischbacher produces Koharu in collaboration with an experienced weaver who normally specializes in the production of silk fabrics. The warp of Koharu comprises 136 threads per cm, each of which in turn consists of 36 individual filaments. This extraordinary density and fineness are responsible for the luster and the silky effect of the fabric. The structured three-dimensional surface is created using a shrinkable yarn that contracts during finishing. The name Koharu finds its origin in Japan, where literally it means ‘little spring' and refers to the late summer period. Koharu can be used as a drape or an upholstery fabric. It is colour matched with Yamamichi and Komon.
