Fischbacher 1819 presents BENU Formidable, a sustainable homage to joie de vivre.
The new BENU Formidable collection by Fischbacher 1819 marks a pivotal moment in high-quality textile design. Featuring playful, contemporary colours and organically fluid shapes, the collection comprises sustainable and recycled fabrics. It provides an antidote to digital sensory overload and a diminishing appreciation for artistic forms of expression. In creating this collection, the focus of the design team was not on precision, but rather a free-spirited, imaginative artistic style, to convey a sense of energy and optimism. The curtain fabrics in this new collection are all named after dances and mirror the joie de vivre and self-expression found in dance and visual design. The collection unfolds dynamically, sometimes into expressive structures, sometimes deliberately naïve, as with the BLOOM wallpaper.
BENU Formidable, conceived and developed in Fischbacher 1819's in-house studio, tells the story of craftsmanship, traditional skills, ecological responsibility and a joyful approach to colours and patterns. In this way, the collection creates moments that revitalise our aesthetic senses and rekindles passion.

From art to collection - inspiration from Venice
BENU Formidable is inspired by the 2024 Venice Art Biennale, which put the spotlight on textile and naïve art and offered a visual and tactile contrast to the digital world. On display was a diverse cross-section of textile art: from contemporary artists to archived creations - a fusion of embroideries, collages, appliqués, textile objects and installations, united by an artistic and expressive language that is simple. Embracing this spirit, Fischbacher 1819 has translated it into a textile collection that dissolves the boundaries between art, design and everyday life and places the tactile beauty of textiles at the centre of modern interiors.
Sustainability as a guideline for the future
Today, contemporary textiles have to offer more than just visual appeal. Fischbacher 1819 was the first supplier of sustainable fabrics with the launch of the BENU Recycled collection in 2009 and has been continuously expanding its range of recycled products ever since. All textiles in the BENU Formidable collection are made from recycled and sustainable materials and most of them have inherent flame-retardant properties. This combination of durability and ecological responsibility is an integral part of Fischbacher 1819's brand identity and was a key aspect in the development of the collection.
