THE DREI BERGE COLLECTION
For Milan Design Week 2024 Fischbacher 1819 will unveil the highly anticipated Drei Berge collection, an exclusive collaboration with the French Moroccan creative Ramdane Touhami.
The Drei Berge collection pays homage to the majestic grandeur of the Swiss Alps’ Jungfrau, Eiger and Mönch mountains. These iconic peaks, emblematic of wild natural beauty, not only frame Touhami’s picturesque Drei Berge Hotel but also inspire his passion for hiking and the alpine lifestyle. This profound affinity for the mountains is translated into a contemporary visual, intricately woven into the two curtain fabrics and throw which form the collection through an imaginative use of texture and bold, eclectic colour. Renowned for his distinctive blend of historical reverence and avantgarde design, Ramdane Touhami stands at the confluence of tradition and innovation. The partnership with Fischbacher 1819 is a symbiosis where the rich history of textile excellence meets a fresh, visionary approach to design.
Central to the Drei Berge collection is the embrace of wool, a material steeped in the traditions of Alpine craftsmanship and chosen for its unparalleled soft, comforting handle, durability, and characterful and intriguing textures. The choice also reflects a profound commitment to marrying luxury with ecological responsibility.
The three unique protagonists of the Drei Berge collection are Jungfrau, a knitted curtain made of 100% wool which evokes the sensation of slipping into a thick woollen jumper; Eiger, a soft woven-plain curtain fabric also suitable for light upholstery which is made of pure wool; and Mönch, a soft and voluminous plaid throw with a curly surface texture made from alpaca mixed with virgin wool. From the sumptuously woven plain that invites touch, to the tactile depth of the knitted “chunky jumper” effect fabric, wool’s versatility is apparent. Each piece underscores the adaptability of the collection which has been crafted to accommodate the shifting moods of each season. Woven with a warmth that mimics the snug embrace of an alpine lodge, Jungfrau is an ideal curtain for colder months whilst Eiger offers a lighter, airier summer curtain and Mönch can be used across the year.
Captivating through its contemporary colour scheme, the Drei Berge collection’s innovative palette, featuring ultramodern shades amidst tranquil neutrals depicts the ever-changing vistas and encapsulate the energy of the alpine landscape.
The Drei Berge collection’s inherent versatility lies in its ability to bring a touch of the extraordinary to the everyday, serving as the focal point of a room or as sophisticated accents that complement existing decor.
